Serving A Faithful God

"Blessed is the man whose strength is in You, Whose heart is set on pilgrimage."
I remember the first time I heard the word Pilgrimage, I was on an airplane headed toward Israel. I knew nothing then of the middle east and its turmoil. I had never left the country. I was being briefed on what to say upon arriving when asked my reasons for visiting. I was told to say I was on a religious pilgrimage. To truly appreciate my thought processes, I must remind you, I was only twenty two years old and my social interactions to this point had been pretty much limited. My formal education had ceased some where around the beginning of seventh grade and short of a few high school adult evening classes that led to a G.E.D. I was pretty much winging it. I like the concept of "setting ones heart" toward God, and the path he has so lovingly set for us. It kind of reminds me of mapquest, you put in your destination and the best navigable route appears! I still have days when I want to make a left when I know I should be making a right and sometimes, though not as often as in my youth, I venture off the path following a garage sale sign or some other enticing piece of fruit until I find my self in a place I've never been, far from where I should be, calling out to my God for the direction I so desperately need....
