NAMB: Commissioned and Endorsed

I made my way toward the front, finding a table facing the podium, I sat in the middle of three seats, saving the one to my left for Stephen. As the music began a man took the empty seat to my right.
A few minutes into worship the man leaned over and whispered with a slight accent and said “Your husband Stephen is quite the guitarist” I smiled and nodded enthusiastically! As the music came to an end we had the opportunity to exchange a few more words, In this exchange I struggled further to determine from his accent where this person was from.
I was about to grasp at this wisp of knowledge as it sat precariously perched on the very tip of my tongue, when my thoughts were interrupted by that of the announcer.
He was introducing the president of NAMB; “a child of IMB missionaries, he grew up in Africa”….
That’s it; Africa! I turned to my right to ask if I was correct in my guess only to see his back as he walked toward the podium…
“ Wow Lord”, I said in my thoughts to God, “that was really nice of you”. I could almost feel the breath of our Lord as he whispered to my heart….”You are right where you belong and you are welcome.” At that moment all of my nagging self doubt was put to rest. Though both Stephen and I had our concerns and fears that these nice people had us confused with some more worthy folk than ourselves. We were blessed and honored and convinced that it was God that called us to such a place….
