As she stepped out of the elevator she noticed a couple over near the pool and a person sitting in the hot tub. He was a middle aged man, who had a remarkable resemblance to Sean Connery. Stepping into the swirling warmth of the heated water, her thoughts turned to her recent prayers for boldness to share the gospel. She silently whispered a prayer for courage as she eased her way into a sitting position. The man across from her smiled in acknowledgement, and small talk ensued. The conversation turned to recent world tragedies. Out of her peripheral vision she saw the couple entering the elevator and realized that they were alone. She thought to her self it is now or never. After learning of the mans religious affiliation, she asked him; “If you were to die today do you know where you will spend eternity? At that very moment all the bubbles stopped. Instinctively they both glanced at the surface of the water. She sensed something just didn't seem right, but she was determined to share the gospel with this person. She waited expectantly for his reply. When he spoke, what he said did not address the question. Further more why would he tell her he was going to reach for his towel and be exiting the hot tub? It all dawned on her in a flash and I mean that literally. She was sure the look of shock was pasted on her face as she struggled in vain to close her mouth and for the life of her remember how to speak at all, much less share the gospel. He did have the courtesy to wrap the towel around himself before stopping mid stride and turning toward her. She looked up, afraid to look any where else, and noted it was with a wide mouth grin that he exclaimed; “By the way, yes; I do know where I will be spending eternity.... and with that he walked away dropping the towel slightly…..
The above story is a true experience that happened to a young lady at the NAMB weekend in Portsmouth ,VA
It was the common assumption among those of us discussing the situation that this young lady had all the boldness required to share her faith. After all once you witness to a naked man in a hot tub the rest should be a piece of cake!
